Arirrki Members Update – September 2025
Arirrki is facing one of its toughest periods yet, with major challenges around repairing Croc Cat, ongoing legal expenses, and rising costs of business. Despite these pressures, every decision being made is focused on protecting the future of the corporation for generations to come.
Repairs to Croc Cat remain the biggest battle. Insurance delays and high costs have added strain, with upcoming bills for naval and wiring plans, plus repainting and compliance work. The good news is that the main system is almost ready, and with solar panels and new batteries still to come, Croc Cat is expected back on the water by mid-next month—just in time for the cruise ship season. To meet early October contracts, Arirrki may need to temporarily hire another vessel to avoid risking high-value agreements.
In the meantime, Wild Cat has returned to service after a full overhaul, keeping tours running and income flowing. However, Arirrki has had to make the difficult decision to pause new community support requests until Croc Cat’s future is secured.
Looking forward, Arirrki is preparing a strong Expression of Interest for Windows on the Wetlands, which could bring new opportunities like an art gallery, retail, café, and visitor centre. Early discussions are also underway on a Croc Film Project and the potential for a second vessel in the near future.
While this period has tested patience and confidence, the path forward is clear: stabilise Croc Cat, secure new opportunities, and grow Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruises. Together, we remain committed to building a stronger future for our people.
